Appearance::[/b]
Kalamity is fairly skinny for her age. Most of her entire body is a buildup of muscle. For all the running and sports she enjoys, her muscles are thick and for the most part, fairly noticeable; she seems to only be made of muscle. She stands tall for what she believes in and holds herself up in the same way. She’s got a couple fairly noticeable scars from sports and more things that happened recently. She wears them proudly and isn’t very self conscious of them.
Kal’s hair is a deep coal black. Normally her hair is naturally wavy, but she often straightens it. Most of the time though it just ends up wavy by the end of the day. Her eyes are an interesting cold grey tinted with flecks of what appears to be black. Her eyelashes are thick and often covered in mascara while her eyes are framed in an interesting amount of eyeliner.
Kalamity’s normal apparel isn’t often the most appealing to most people. She doesn’t often care how she looks, so her normal outfit is a pair of jeans and a tank top. On occasion, however, she will revert to her favorite black punk clothing. Sometimes though, when she really doesn’t feel like getting dressed, Kal wears a pair of oversized pajama pants with a tight t-shirt or tank top. When she absolutely has to get dressed up though, which isn’t very often now-a-days, she goes full out, sometimes becoming unrecognizable. One thing that always remains the same though is the silver band set off with tiny diamonds of lapis lazuli stone.

Personality::[/b]
Kalamity usually seems to be a very dark girl. When most people first meet her, she seems to radiate darkness. Just about everything about her almost seems to scream ‘stay away’. For those who don’t seem to hear that, or choose to ignore it, they very nearly end up talking to a wall. Kal will stay very nearly quiet. If she gets annoyed, or is already in a bad mood, then she certainly isn’t afraid to put in a snide comment or two. She has never been one either to follow rules, and usually makes up her own.
If people can actually live through her degrading first impression, Kalamity turns out to be an alright girl. Though the radiated darkness never actually seems to fade, Kal becomes much more hospitable. Though she is still extremely sarcastic, she becomes also very blunt to top it off. She isn’t afraid to tell someone exactly what is on her mind. People can also see the hard headed side to her as well when she gets like this. She isn’t quick to change her mind until she has enough evidence to see her through, making almost anything she believes in very nearly the truth almost every time, seeing as she seems to know and get a read on people fairly easily. Though she does have an extremely nasty temper, Kal finds it easier to bottle it up and keep it mostly to herself, only releasing it in the form of sarcastic remarks and degrading comments. Kal also doesn’t like to show people exactly what she’s feeling. It’s her form of strength and it usually ends up in her wanting to be alone for a couple days on end.
Though nearly everything about Kal seems to say ‘go away’, if people are actually there for her, she’ll be there for them too. She is extremely loyal, especially to those closest to her and the ones she loves. Most of the darkness that she holds is from having to grow up fairly quickly. Even so though, she takes it as her duty to protect her friends, and nothing will stand in her way of it. When it comes to her brother, she has come to take over her mother’s role, and keeps him safe.

Kalamity was the second born child to Duncan and Trinity Jackaal. She only lived in Michigan for a short time, only about a year before they moved to the Suburbs. As a child, Kal and her brother, Ray, were very close and always took care of each other. And Kal grew up fairly normal. She had a couple of ‘friends’ that she would talk to in her grade school classes and such, but one of them was the only one who truly stayed her friend. Kal met Zaylin as a child and the two of them feel into sync pretty quickly. The survived grade school together, the bullies on the playground, and the numerous pranks her older brother tried to pull on them.
In junior high things got a little more interesting. Rayce introduced Kal to his good friend Dante and his little sister Ava, who had just moved to America from Romania. Kal wasn’t that found of Ava to start. There was always something about her that Kalamity didn’t like, and because of that she chose to ignore the younger girl most of the time. At first Kal and Dante clashed together very often, and usually the temper she kept so tightly under control was often flared to a new level. It wasn’t until eighth grade and during one of her long talks with Zaylin that Kal even realized she really liked Dante. Even so, she waited to do anything about it. It was also at this time, while at a horse show, that Kalamity met Lucian for the first time. Lucian had told her he’d seen her riding skills and knew she had to come work for him on his ranch. She agreed and she’d worked there through most of her high school career. One day, she actually convinced Zaylin to come along. Probably a good thing, because she introduced her friend to Lucian and the two started dating a couple weeks later. Then it wasn’t until the middle of her high school career that love came Kal’s way. She and Dante finally admitted to themselves and each other that they had liked each other for a long time and decided to give it a go. Another couple of months and Zaylin and Lucian got married, and of course Kal had to be there as the Maid of Honor.
Unfortunately, Kalamity didn’t have a lot of time to figure that out. She had just graduated school when the Plague struck. The sickness killed both of her parents and Kal and Rayce bunkered down at their home. It wasn’t until a week or so later that the dead started to come back. It was around that time too that Dante and Ava showed up to stay with them. They wouldn’t talk about what happened in their household, and Kal didn’t push for answers. It was a good couple of months before the four of them then heard from Zaylin and Lucian. Dante and Rayce had been out looking for food, leaving Kalamity and Ava home alone when there was a knock at the door. At first, the two girls didn’t want to get it for fear of it being one of the Awakened, or even worse, one of the Plagued. It wasn’t until Zaylin started screaming did Kal finally run to the rescue. Both Zaylin and Lucian looked like they had been in a scuffle, but Kal assured them they would be fine in the house with the rest of them. It was a few more nights after that that the electricity came on again, but even that didn’t last very long. It failed every once in a while but at least it was still there. That’s when the first heard of the radio transmissions from the girl who called herself Agent K. Now that’s what they listen to every night, to see if there’s a new transmission from her.

The soft hush of the breeze against the house made the boards creak and groan. Kalamity couldn’t sleep. Why would she be able to? It would’ve been a beautiful summer night. But, oh wait, pretty much everyone was dead. Dante was asleep soundly in his sleeping bag next to her. She looked at the others in the living room as well. She could barely make them out, especially in what little light filtered in through the boarded up window. No one had come for them here yet. The house looked abandoned. Many people had moved. But from what Kal gathered, nowhere was safe from this sickness that had spread like wildfire.
She sighed heavily and looked at the ceiling. What now? What did they have to do now to get out of this? Eventually the Awakened would come. They had taken over quickly. The Plagued were worse. Kal didn’t know how they had any kind of control or if they even could. She had seen these people. They were like vampires. Nightmares come true. This entire situation was. It was a nightmare. She was supposed to have a life, go to college, get married, have kids… well maybe not the last bit. She had never wanted kids. Didn’t really matter now though did it? Nothing was going to matter anymore by the end of this.
A loud bang from outside startled her up into a sitting position. The others all did the same. Kal grabbed the crowbar off the floor next to her and got up slowly. She made her way to the window quietly, almost seeming to glide across the floor. She peeked out to the street through one of the holes between the boards. There were shadows moving about in the moonlight by the abandoned house across the street. She wasn’t sure what had made such a loud bang though. Kal backed away from the window and clutched the crowbar tightly in her hand. So much for sleeping tonight. She glanced over her shoulder at the others standing shock still behind her. Kal knew they were going to have to move. It was only a matter of time. But they were going to have to move if they wanted to even have a chance of surviving.
